Painmaster is a huge enemy type encountered in Crucible of Pain level of The Forges episode.
Appearance[ | ]
Painmaster is a medium sized fusion of a Forge Peon (body) and Metal Fish (head) with several additions/changes: the machine's body is more detailed and curvy, it's covered in long spikes and the enemy lacks harpoons at the end of its hands.
Behavior[ | ]
Master of Pain is a very persistent enemy. While it has slow speed compared to other walking forged creations its single attack poses a great threat: when close enough, Pain(in-the-ass)master will continuously spew hot nails at Champion with enormous speed, demolishing health until the player sees Death screen.

As the name implies, this thing will give you a headache if not dealt with quickly and carefully. If the attack description hadn't scare you yet know that most of the encounters happen in medium-sized rooms or long corridors with little space to go around, sometimes with a group of allies or another(!) Paint Master, so go figure how painfull fighting this thing will be. It's more practical to run away from Painmaster and shoot at it from afar than dodging aside or trying to go around it while in range of attack as the machine locks on your position without hesitation. Thanks to its speed you can walk away easily and prioritize defeating other enemies if you happen to stumble upon an ambush. Heavy weaponry is advised to utilize against this foe, although Voltride is very useful when you need to stun it.

- Painmaster is one of the few local entities twisted by the Evil Forces, the others being Creeper, Shrub Niggurath and Sol Butcher.
- Painmaster, Alpha Battlemage and Magma Demon are the only huge enemies with no melee attacks.
